Shimu's Runway Match vol.5 : A Tribute To Stanley Kubrick

Stanley Kubrick, one of the best directors of all time. He didn't produce many films but it's all classic in it own genre. What more important is he's in our era.

Eyes Wide Shut (1999) - Mason Martin Margiela
Photobucket
It's Kubrick last movie and a very controversial one. It's also the last movie before Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise break up. For this movie, I go for Mason Martin Margiela.

Full Metal Jacket (1987) - PUMA Central Saint Martins Bursary Award, Wayne Fitzell

Photobucket
The Vietnamese sniper in this movie is so cool. If you hate watching old movies, this maybe your match. Kubrick won many awards for this movie. So it fit well with this look from Central Saint Martins.

The Shining (1980) - United Bamboo
Photobucket
The twin girls in The Shining is so haunting that you can see the scene being portray again and again. This is one of Kubrick's movies that you shouldn't miss.

Barry Lyndon (1975) - 3.1 Phillip Lim
Photobucket
In this movie Kubrick use the lens that being develop for NASA to captured "the huddle and glow of a pre-electrical age". So in the night scene he shoot with only candles. What would be more perfect for mr.Lyndon than Phillip Lim.

A Clockwork Orange (1971) - Azzaro
Photobucket
Alex and his droogs have wide-ranging influences in almost everything from The Simpsons to Usher. This look of Azzaro give the feeling of the droogs but also look pretty chic.

2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) - Karl Lagerfeld
Photobucket
In this collection of Karl Lagerfeld he also designed the helmet (which can be connect with ipod) for biking. So I think it fit very well with the classic 2001: A Space Odyssey. Don't you think, Hal ?

Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb (1964) - National Costume
Photobucket
This movie is about cold war but in a funny version. Peter Seller played at lease four major rolls in this movie. In a world of men and power, what would be better than a cool blazer ?

Lolita (1962) - Isabel Marant
Photobucket
Because of the book and this film, the word Lolita have it own definition. And don't forget about that heart shape sunglasses that still a must have for every chic girl until now.

Spartacus (1960) - Prada
Photobucket
Miuccia Prada is only 11 when the movie came out but it must be in her mind for sometime because in this fall collection Prada is full of gladiator feeling.

Paths of Glory (1957) - Aquilano.Rimondi
Photobucket
This is the first movie that make his name being recognize starring mister Kirk Douglas. We don't have to mention how often the soldier uniform being repeated in fashion scene. In this case Aquilano.Rimondi got some influence.

hope you all like it :)
